The UCLA Writing Project at Center X, a site of the California Writing Project and the National Writing Project, has been serving teachers and students in the greater Los Angeles area since 1977. We lead professional development workshops in the schools, sponsor conferences, offer writing workshops and competitions for elementary-high school students. Among our key beliefs: The best teachers of teachers are other experienced classroom teachers. When students have opportunities to write every day in all disciplines, they grow dramatically as writers. Writing can indeed be taught, and all of us can be confident and more-than-competent writers.
