The Science Lab Teaching Club was formed at UCLA Department of Physics and Astronomy in January of 2012. We are a group of undergraduate physics students who volunteer to go to local schools and present on a physics-related topic in the setting of one 45-minute class. We meet weekly during the school year to prepare lessons and practice lab demonstrations. The emphasis is put on teaching subjects such as electricity, magnetism, waves, optics, etc. Each lesson is accompanied by several spectacular demonstrations using the real laboratory equipment provided by the UCLA Physics Department’s demo lab as well as the demos designed and built by the club members.
